July 2008 - Milwaukee Brewers
Manager and GM Fritsche

6th July 2008

I think it's time to give Freddy Garcia another start. Especially since Gallardo is on a very cold streak. We will decide later if Gallardo starts tomorrow or not. I decided to have a very strong defensive outfield today as Minute Maid Park has some tricks corners.

Game #83 – Milwaukee [44-38] (F. Garcia 3-3, 4.86 ERA) at Houston [40-42] (M. Albers 5-8, 6.06 ERA)

SS C. Izturis - CF J. Upton - 3B R. Braun - 1B P. Fielder - 2B M Reynolds - RF G. Gross - C J. Estrada - LF S. Victorino

Maybe it was the wrong decision to give Garcia the start. Much worse is that Justin Upton will miss up to six weeks after he injured himself hitting a triple in the top of the ninth. Obviously the rally was virtually stopped after that injury and we will have a hard time to find a cover for Upton.

Milwaukee at Houston: 4-6

W: M. Albers (6-8), L: F. Garcia (3-4)
H: T. Miller (5)
S: B. Lidge (17)
HR - / L. Berkman (18), K. Millar (2)
MoM: L. Berkman - 2/4, 1 R, HR, 4 RBI

Elsewhere:

The Rockies rarely used 1B Todd Helton (.160, 1 HR, 3 RBI) collected his 300th career home run in 6-4 loss to the Pirates.

As we have no other real option, Charlie Fermaint is called up from Nashville after only two days. Tony Gwynn Jr. is batting only .207 at Nashville and was no option.
