August 2008 - Milwaukee Brewers
Manager and GM Fritsche
2nd August 2008
A very important game as we simply can't afford to lose three in a row at home to the Cardinals. If we lose the playoff battle has started for good. We will rely on Chris Capuano to go deep into the game and save the bullpen as much as possible.
Game #108 –St. Louis [58-49] (J. Garcia 7-9, 5.47 ERA) at Milwaukee [57-50] (C. Capuano 12-3, 3.79 ERA)
SS A. Escobar - RF G. Gross - LF R. Braun - 1B P. Fielder - 3B M. Reynolds - 2B O. Infante - CF S. Victorino - C H. Blanco
Ever heard of Tagg Bozied? We neither ... He entered the game as a pinch hitter in the 7th when the game was tied at 1. A stupid intentional walk by Ned Yost allowed Bozied to hit a three run homer to end Capuano's day. An inning later he repeated this feat against Accardo. Bozied had 4 RBI's entering this game, now he has 10. And oh yes, the Cardinals swept us.
St. Louis at Milwaukee: 9-1
W: J. Garcia (8-9), L: C. Capuano (12-4)
HR: T. Bozied 2 (2) / -
SB: - / -
CS: - / -
E: M. Diaz (5) / -
MoM: T. Bozied - 2/2, 2 R, 2 HR, 6 RBI
Elsewhere:
The Padres Greg Maddux (8-8, 3.85 ERA) announced he will retire at the end of the season.
