August 2008 - Milwaukee Brewers
Manager and GM Fritsche

3rd August 2008

The Blizzards have been struggling after some ill-fated traded and a rather good start to their ML history. Regarding our awful performance against St. Louis we take nothing for granted and hope we gain ground in the pennant race. So far we are 6-0 against the team from the borderlands. Our former player James Loney (.330, 17 HR, 52 RBI) is enjoying his breakthrough year for the Buffalo team.

Game #109 –
Milwaukee [57-51] (C. Villanueva 1-3, 3.86 ERA) at Buffalo [45-63] (J. K. Ryu 3-3, 5.92 ERA)

SS C. Izturis - CF S. Victorino- 1B P. Fielder - C J. Estrada - RF G. Gross - LF B. Nelson - 2B O. Infante - 3B M. Gamel

The game started bad when Dunlap belted one of the longest home runs ever at Pilot Field giving the Blizzards a 3-1 lead after one inning. But thankfully they had to pull their starter after only two innings as he worked in the bullpen yesterday. Villanueva rebounded from his awful first inning and didn't allow anything for the remainder of his work day. He showed that his place is on the active squad and not a Nashville. The eighth started badly for him, but old warhorse Shouse cleaned up the mess with a solid inning. Jose Capellan pitched a perfect ninth to give us the victory. Our bullpen should also be in a rather good shape for tomorrows game.

Milwaukee at Buffalo: 7-3

W: C. Villanueva (2-3), L: M. Ayala (3-3)
H: B. Shouse (7)
HR: - / C. Dunlap (12)
SB: P. Fielder (19), A. Escobar (12) / -
CS: - / I. Desmond (2)
E: - / T. Snider (3), C. Dunlap (5)
MoM: C. Dunlap - 2/4, 1 R, HR, 2 RBI; error

The Blizzards CF Tom Hickman (.217, 1 HR, 11 RBI, 2 SB) will miss two to three weeks with a hyperextended elbow. He injured himself when trying to throw out Prince Fielder at home.

American League Player of the Week:
Aaron Rowand (.290, 11 HR, 45 RBI - Texas): .517, 1 HR, 6 RBI, 5 R

National League Player of the Week:
Chris Ducan (.268, 22 HR, 75 RBI - St. Louis): .478, 2 HR, 10 RBI, 8 R

We acquired RF Jordan Parraz (.313, 9 HR, 37 RBI, 11 SB - AAA) off waivers from Houston. Parraz will get some playing time at Nashville but could compete with Cain, Fermaint and Nelson for the spot as 4th or 5th outfielder. He has good speed and one of the best outfield arms in our organization. RF Charles Thomas (.240, 4 HR, 24 RBI, 5 SB - AAA) will be demoted to Nashville.
