August 2008 - Milwaukee Brewers
Manager and GM Fritsche
5th August 2008
If we win the series finale at Buffalo, we might move back into a tie for first place with the Cardinals. After the game we will enjoy a very much needed off day before heading to Denver.
Game #111 – Milwaukee [59-51] (B. Webb 3-4, 3.97 ERA) at Buffalo [45-65] (J. Saunders 3-10, 6.21 ERA)
2B C. Izturis - RF G. Gross - LF R. Braun - 1B P. Fielder - C J. Estrada - CF S. Victorino - SS A. Escobar - 3B M. Reynolds
Brandon Webb did what we needed from him and went 7+ innings. The score was only 4-1 when he left the game, but a six run eighth put the game out of reach for the Blizzards. They are now 0-9 against us this season. Mark Reynolds whose average dropped to .211 while playing in our uniform will be out for a week with a finger blister. We will decide later to place him on the DL or not.
Milwaukee at Buffalo: 10-1
W: B. Webb (11-8), L: J. Saunders (3-11)
HR: P. Fielder (15) - /
SB: S. Victorino (20), R. Braun (17), E. Escobar (14) / -
CS: - / -
E: J. Estrada (6) / B. Clevlen (4)
MoM: P. Fielder - 2/5, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI
Elsewhere:
Adam Miller (8-6, 3.33 ERA) pitched a 3-hitter when the Indians beat the Tigers 5-0.
We decided not to place Reynolds on the DL. There is no interesting option at AAA to replace him. Mat Gamel (.232, 0 HR, 18 RBI) will get a chance to play 3B daily as long Reynolds is out.
Trade:
The Rockies sent starting pitcher Justin Germano (3-11, 5.88 ERA) to the Rangers for minor leaguers 3B Mauro Gomez (.268, 2 HR, 24 RBI, 1 SB - A) and 3B Curt McCarthy (.324, 10 HR, 72 RBI, 2 SB - A)
