California-Boston Hook Up on Five-Player Deal
The Hot Stove League is simmering.
The California Angels traded starting pitcher Tom Bradley and catcher Tom Egan to the Boston Red Sox for three players--pitchers Roger Moret and Jose Santiago along with catcher Don Pavletich.
Bradley, 23, is a hard-throwing right-hander. He posted a 12-17 record with a 4.00 ERA in 43 starts for the Angels. Bradley (pictured below) struck out 176 batters in 288 innings.
Egan, 30, hit .241 with 15 home runs and 52 RBIs. He also threw out nearly 40% of the runners who attempted to steal.
Moret, 21, appeared in 35 games for Boston. The left-hander was 8-3 with one save. He posted a 4.06 ERA.
Santiago, 30, led the Red Sox with 17 saves. He was 4-4 with a 3.08 ERA in 35 games.
The 32-year-old Pavletich played in 136 games for the Red Sox. Pavletich hit just .207 with nine homers and 39 RBIs. Like Egan, he threw out almost 40% of the runners attempting to steal.
