A problem is that if you haven't planned ahead for this, you may be limited in what you can do. Because the waiver period is probably 3 days, and your 10-day DFA period has expired, you more than likely won't be able to release the guy. Which means you have to assign him to a level of your organization. However, if he has a major league contract (i.e. a contract worth $$), which I'm guessing he does, then you have to put him on your 40-man roster. But if you don't have any space on your 40-man roster (which in all likelihood you may not), then you'd have to clear someone else first before you can assign him -- which (again) takes 3 days. Which you don't have, because Neal has to be assigned before you can move on a day.
