For only the 2nd time in the 10 year existence of the Boston Red Caps, they will not hoist up a trophy at the end of the year. They ended up finishing 5th in a very competitive league . Bad news broke after the season ended as the Cincinnati Reds refused to adopt the new laws concerning selling beer to fans at games and playing on Sundays. Thus, they were expelled from the National League and replaced by the Detroit Wolverines.
