Wel I'll get the ball rolling on that.

For me it would probably be the WGP, the one year wonder that had a few folks jon up expecting a baseball SIM, and it morphed into so much more. It was the only league that I've ever ehard of that the writing of events and happenings eclipsed the actual baseball. The owners of the teams were actually colourful and given life that even TWB couldn't touch. And for those that were part of the league who coudl forget the cop duo in Boston, the temperance riot in Cincinnati, the Louisville owner that no-one could understand through that thick Southern drawl, and of course, the infamous Mahon and his very large cutting knife. I enjoyed it so much that I after the league folded I took the team name and used it in the JOBL as an expansion league entry, and the character was the basis for a short story that I wrote on another board that I used to frequent.

I think what caused that perfect storm was a combination of owners feeding off of each other's writings, twisting it into subplots and arcs that no-one pictured would even exist at the beginning. The commish throwing in some twists and turns didnt' hurt either. Sadly I've forgotten most of the participants handles, but some I can recall, such as scripdiams, grodyheltem, marky8357(numbers may be wrong), and many many more.

I doubt that I will ever find another league like that again.

Second place has to go to the NBL, which was based upon teams in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and NOrthern Michigan. A great idea that I felt deserved mroe fo a shot at life.
