This was a close fight throughout the entire 15 rounds. Sullivan rocked Godfrey many times but never knocked him off his feet. Godfrey landed a clean punch to the chin in the eleventh round that sent Sullivan sprawling on the canvas for the only knockdown of the fight.

George "OC" Godfrey scored a majority decision
Peter Jackson 18-2-0 (13) v/s Hank Griffin 14-1-2 (11)
In the first round it looked like Griffin had Jackson figured out but that changed quickly in round 2. Jackson punished Griffin into round 5 where Griffin was dropped for the count. This was the first time Griffin had been stopped and the first time he had been knockeddown.
