I can recreate this at least. See below, the first four screens. I don't know what else you are doing wrong, or what is wrong with your game, but right-clicking a player or personnel profile is the same as the Back button in a browser. For some reason, the available personnel or staff search screen is blank when you return to it.
Easy fix for that. Don't do it!
You should only right-click on names that appear in lists or articles. See the last screen print.
If I can think of anything else, I'll come back. For now, these silly suggestions:
Make sure that you have coaches activated (Global Setup, Use Complete Coaching System). Also, make sure your filters are cleared; go to Filter on the personnel list screens and select Clear Filter. Sometimes a custom filter is set and forgotten; the button will say None because the custom filter has not been named yet.
One more thing. If right-clicking the name does not give the expected option(s), try left-clicking the name, as you apparently did, and then left-clicking the Action button on the personnel page - see bottom of example below. Probably will be the same result one way or another, but it's worth a try.
