We started our league in 1930 and are currently beginning the 1935 season. We sim fast - three times a week (Sun., Tue., Thur.), two game weeks per sim. It takes us a little under two months to finish a season and the resulting offseason. Both the Browns and Athletics have lost their owners during this past offseason.
We have a steady Commish presence, as I have co-commished the 4OTP and was a founding commish of the GGNL, as well as participating in two other OOTP leagues over the last six years. BDog has been rock solid during his time with the OBL as commish and as an owner in other leagues.
We're hoping to find experienced owners who have a history of participating in their leagues. We'll take someone who just gets their exports and draft lists in on time, but participating in league discussions in our forums once you're in the league will be nice as well. Anyone willing to write occasional league articles or updates would be great, but we don't ask anyone to do that if they don't want to.
If you're interested in joining us, please post in this thread. If you've played in OOTP leagues in the past, let us know which ones.
The Browns are the proud owners of Schoolboy Rowe (SP), who is entering his third year in the league with a 3.05 ERA in 619 IP. The rest of the staff is nothing special, though Jim Mooney is 28 and a serviceable starter and they have three good relief pitchers. They have Pinky Whitney at second base who is solid. Their outfield is old with Curt Walker and Lefty O'Doul manning the corner spots, but Stan hack at third base is an amazing hitter. He is 25, entering his fourth season and boasts a career .322/.402/.440 line. He's also a very good base stealer.
The Athletics are at a crossroads. They don't have enough pieces to compete in the AL East, but they do have a few interesting pieces. Cy Blanton hopes to grow into his 4/9/7 talent ratings and become the ace he could be at 26 years old. Dick Porter is on the wrong side of thirty at second base but can still hit. The 23 year old LFer, Joe Medwick, is the star of the team. Rated 9/9/5/4/10 he has a career .322/.363/.471 line and hit .340 last year. George Selkirk has 7/7/6/8/8 talents in RF and is coming off a rookie year that saw him go .295/.340/.432 with double figures in doubles, triples and homeruns.
Both teams need help, but there is talent there to build around or to trade off. We hope we can find some dedicated owners who will be with us for a while.
