CABO Championship Fight/Stevenson-Langford II at Havana Nights - Cristal Arena, Havana, Cuba

[Champion] Teofilo Stevenson, Cuba, 23-5-0 (21) vs [CABO#1] Sam Langford, Canada, 22-5-0 (21)

I cannot even hold my pen or microphone right now because I am afraid of being shocked from all the electricity that is flowing throughout this jam-packed arena. This is Stevenson-Langford II, for the CABO Championship here in Havana, Cuba. Langford won the first meeting between these two fighters by way of (TKO6) on 1953-07-31, in Toronto, ON, Canada, and retained his WHBA title. Langford is ranked #15 in the world and is the #1 ranked CABO contender. Stevenson is ranked #19 in the world and is making his 5th title defense. Wow, what action here in the opening round. If the fight is going to go like this, I want a rematch already. The fight is at the middle of the ring as Langford gets off first. Stevenson battles back and lands a cross that Langford didnt see coming. Langford is down at the end of the 1st. Whoa, I thought it was over, but Sam took the whole 9 seconds to get his mind right. Bothe fighters go to their corners. Langford unloads in the 2nd, 23-4, as he obviously shook off the last round and charges forward, hurting the champ with an onslaught of different punches. 14-7, the challenger in round 3. The fans cheer as Stevenson lands early in the 4th but Langford rallies in the last minute and leads the round, 14-9. There is some swelling around the left eye of the champion. The 5th is too close to call as both men take a bit of a breather. The second slow round in a row as both fighters do more clinching than punching. 11-3, Langford in the 7th. A big 8th, 19-3, for the champ. Langford misses with a left and gets caught with a shot that puts him down, 20-4, Savon in the 9th. Langford responds in the 10th, 15-8. Langford presses the issue from the start of round 11 and Stevenson is hurt. Stevenson is against the ropes and is getting hammered. The champion better respond or the fight could be stopped. There is no response as the champion is slumped against the ropes. A dramatic turn of events as Sam Langford comes to Cuba, gets knocked down twice, and manages to pummel the champion into submission! Sam Langford is the new CABO Champion and brings the belt back to Canada.

Winner: Langford
Result: (TKO11)
Cards: 95-93, 97-92, 95-94, all three cards in favor of Stevenson
Punch stats: 224-601, 37.3% Stevenson - 298-593, 50.3% Langford

Felix Savon, Cuba, 15-1-0 (13) vs Jose Giorgetti, Argentina, 15-2-0 (14)

Kid Tutara travels down from Argentina to face the former CNBF champion, Felix Savon. Last month, the Cuban fighters went to Argentina as had a good showing but this will be a very interesting fight between two, top-ranked CABO fighters. There is a lot of excitement in the arena for this fight and the lead up to the CABO Championship fight in the main event. Savon starts off slow again but takes the 2nd round, 16-5. After the 4th, it looks like it is 2-2, after Giorgetti takes the last round. Savon stays at center ring and outboxes Giorgetti in the 5th, 16-5. 12-4, Savon in the 6th. A big uppercut shakes Giorgetti in the 7th. Savon scores a knockdown in the 8th as Giorgetti gets up at the count of nine. Another knockdown at the end of the round, 35-5, for Savon, but the Argentinian survives the round. Savon still looks strong as we head to the 11th. Giorgetti has swelling around the left eye and looks beaten up. Giorgetti is down again in the 11th, 29-7, for Savon. How is Giorgetti able to continue as Savon puts him down again in the 12th. Another knockdown at the end of the round finally ends the fight at the 2:25 mark of the 12th.

Winner: Savon
Result: (KO12)
Cards: 107-98, 108-98, 107-98, all three cards in favor of Savon
Punch stats: 127-696, 18.2% Giorgetti - 359-813, 44.2% Savon
