After 72 rounds, Referee Eddie Graney declared: "Boys, you've had enough for one night. We'll resume this battle tomorrow." He then promptly left. Gamblers bet on which boxer would not show the next day. Brogan won by knockout after 15 more rounds. Note- According to the San Francisco Chronicle, this bout took place on June 4, 1890. The "City (San Francisco) Bantamweight Title" was at stake. The two boxers had fought seventy-five rounds at the same venue on the evening of June 3, 1890, but the boring bout was stopped at 2 a.m. and was to resume at 8 p.m. Bogan's listed opponent was "Dan Hawkins." The last fifteen rounds of the bout was "very satisfactory."
