Josh Thomas too soon, as the bullpen failed to hold the slim 1-0, but the baseball gods were smiling upon us this day. The in kept us in a 1st place tie with the Bluefins of Staunton.

Randy Moffitt sends a
Manny Sarmiento pitch 440 feet over the centerfield wall in the bottom of the 13th to give San Francisco a 6-5 win over Cincinnati. The home run is the first of Moffitt's career and his first at-bat of the 1977 season. This will hereby coin the phrase of "giving up a Moffitt" whenever a pitcher gives up a home run (in particular a game winning home run) to an opposing pitcher.
Ron Guidry (2.33 ERA) improves to 7-1 by holding the Rangers to just 4 hits in a 1-0 Yankees victory. Guidry outpitched Texas pitcher
