Columbus - Senator Christopher Dodd has taken a large step forward tonight in his quest for the Democratic presidential nomination with a dominating victory in Ohio. While still well shy of the delegates needed for coronation, Dodd was the clear victor in the Buckeye state, and was helped significantly by the strong showing of second place finisher, Bill Richardson. Senator John Edwards, his progressive message evidently not resonating with Ohio's blue collar crowd, finished a distant third. Edwards will need to rebound pretty quickly if he is to keep pace with the Senator from Connecticut.
It was a bittersweet result for Governor Richardson, certainly more bitter than sweet. Again, Richardson charges to a strong second place finish when his campaign desperately needs a win. He will have one more chance today when polls close in Texas.
