I'm dragging up this sorry thread to record something for posterity:
Isiah Thomas in this, his final season in charge of the Knicks, ended up with the same terrible record (23-59 .280) as Larry Brown, the man he forced out of the coaching job in favor of himself. Two years later, and with players that he himself brought to the team, he could do no better than Brown. I had to record that here, along with my deep satisfaction.
Three Knick teams from the early 1960's had worse winning percentages, but no Knicks team has ever lost more than 59 games in a season. Thomas was responsible for producing two of the four teams that now share this record. I had been hoping for 60 losses for him, but the irony with Brown will do. Now away with Smilin' Izzy and let the healing begin.
