Now, don't get me wrong. O'Neill had 8 or 9 great seasons in New York and was a member of MY team. But, he's not going to the Hall of Fame and he retired seven years ago. Be that as it may, the fans themselves may retire Yankee uniform number 21 if this keeps up! Who's running this team?
Sure, the fans should remember O'Neill. But to still be passionate enough about him to boo Hawkins off the field for wearing his number? Say what you want about Yankee fans (the latest thread, the one about hating Red Sox / Yanks on TV), but I believe I can count on one hand the number of cities that would show this much involvement and love for its baseball team and a local hero like Paul O'Neill. |
