My goal is to create my own league that follows the financial changes that really took place, but setup differently from MLB. However, if possible I would like real players.
Can I have the Providence Gunslingers select Joe DiMaggio in the inaugural draft and then decades later take Ken Griffey Jr. in the amateur draft? Or is this not possible?

This "has been" a problem since OOTP2006. It was always easly to setup before then. I gave up and started an historical league in 1958 and the teams then draft the "new real players" each year. After about 5 or 6 seasons the teams don't look like they did in real life.
BTW, I always liked my "Western Baseball League" with 3 divisions and 12 teams or two leagues with six teams each (OOTP6.5a). I hope Markus fixes this so it easier to setup than it is now. It can be done, but it is a real pain and a big hassle.
