In the OP's example, the regained lead was then maintained by succeeding relievers. The only aspect of the rule which is subject to opinion is the interpretation of what relief appearances would qualify as both brief and ineffective. This could be fuzzy in some cases, but it is clear in the OP's example. Under MLB's rule, Beadle should get the win.

However, I'm not going to waste any more time trying to explain what I believe is a dumb rule to begin with (not the "brief and ineffective" exception, but the entire system of assigning wins). I don't care if OOTP models this detail of MLB scoring correctly or not, because I don't judge my OOTP pitchers on their W/L record anyway.
