I'm sure that you can, but OOTP (and many others) recommend that you install new versions
between seasons. That will go a long way in avoiding unhappy experiences.
I'm just finishing my current season and will not be starting another one until the new version comes out. Once I finish a season I do things like: print out stat sheets for the league & all the teams in my organization, evaluate the upcoming draft, conduct the draft (and pre-draft trades), re-arrange my players (to accommodate the new players), etc. Between seasons I plan to rename some of my minor league teams, redo many of the uniforms, and modify the minor league schedules. These things should keep me busy until the new release comes out.
