There's actually 4 things there, and Markus mentioned 3 examples.

First, "Castillo is on an 8 game hitting streak".
Second, "Castillo leads the NL with 23 2Bs".
Third, milestones
Fourth, "And with that he takes over 2nd place on the all time leaderboard".

So if 1 and 2 are examples, and they will be there, then the other "example" is the fourth thing. There's no way that milestones take a long time to gather... the player is there and it mentions how many home runs he has this season, it's a short move to mention that he just hit his 500th HR. The problem would be in saying that he "moved into 2nd place" or something along those lines.

My thought last year, and still remains, is that the game could build the leaderboard list at the beginning of the year and check if anyone had a reasonable chance to take first or second place (like within the single season HR record of breaking the career HR mark or something). If he did, then it would save that "mini-leaderboard" and constantly check when the player or players added another to their stat. Ignore all the little stuff, we care about HRs, hits, wins, Ks.... doesn't matter to celebrate that he just became the all time leader in ABs or BBs.
I've never heard an answer on if that was in any way possible, I just keep bringing it up.

It's what you learn after you know it all that counts.
