I was trying to disagree with the above statement but I couldn't think of anybody dumber than WRs on average.

My hierarchy of smartness from football players
Quarterback
Center
Other offensive linemen (although not always in the football sense. Still, the vast majority of really good interviews are offensive linemen. Pete Kendall couldn't be anything other than an OL)
Middle linebacker
Defensive back (YMMV on this - safeties are probably smarter than corners but it's really close))
Outside linebacker
Defensive line
Running back
Wide receiver
Tight end (okay, maybe somebody is stupider than WRs but it is really, really, really close... TEs are basically the David Ecksteins of football. As such they usually aren't terribly bright. I submit SHOCKEY SHOCKEY SHOCKEY and Kellen "I'm in a war!!!" Winslow Jr. as my prime examples)

Kickers and punters do not count because they are not really football players.
