Problem with years missing in Lahmans
Iīm trying to setup Historical Sim starting 1985.
When I startup I fill in according to many masters on this forum.'
The big problem starts hitting certain players that did not have a Major League record for the year 1985.
Andre David played for Minnesota 1984 and 1986 and in the minors years before in 1985 and after. This bloke is retired when I look in 1985. He doesnīt unretire either in 1986 when he really had some ML experience.
Lahmanns DB works fine with altering players positions over the year. My ex. before Rick Aguilera going from starter to closer, BUT if the players DIDNīt play in 1985 he is retired for all times.
Now Andre David isnīt a good example I know. But trying out other starts puts other players in the retirecathegory.
Starting 1988, puts Jack Daugherty in retirement because he had a year without ML play. He played much later on for Texas 89-93.
This creates a danger situation that good players might drop out of sims starting in mid-years (not in 1901 I think)
I tried Gambo DB, but found other problems. He had Andre David playing from the day he entered pro-ball in ML with stats and all in Real-Life stats.
That could create some wild and unreal stats.
I made a test myself adding 1985 for Andre David. With no games and no AB, and yes he popped up correct. Only had that empty Real-Life stat in 1985. Not know for sure if this will eventualy create problem with his years as ML player. Contract thinking.
Has anybody figured out this and remedied it. The only thing I see is that you have to dig around all stats for the year you start and add into the master.csv file from Lahmann. HUGE work indeed, but who likes to miss out on some players....
Second thought was to pop in as Play Commis and unretire all players you find that should be in, and place them in the correct organisation. Increasing the Minor League player bank a bit.
Ideas, thoughts, solving this ????
