I've been pondering some ideas for a while about running a second online league that would start some time after OOTP9 has been released and will be loosely based upon the Cape Cod Baseball League as a real (non-invitational) league.

Basically, we'd start in 1885 (as the real league did, though IIRC baseball first officially started there in 1865) and follow real baseball eras statistically. We'd use fictional players from the Cape, mix in the odd real life New Englanders and players, and possibly use the new scouting system if we decide it doesn't suck in OOTP9. The playing schedule would be relatively short (certainly less than 100 games) and we'd sim quickly (two or three times a week with an undetermined amount of games per sim) with the goal being getting some nice league history to read through.

Depending on how league members decided, we could always run a real MLB historical sim alongside our league just to see how that history plays out. Lots of possibilities there. Have military drafts affect our player pool, for example. OOTP's ability to create baseball worlds can be quite fun.

Ideally, I want to restrict membership in this league to OOTP veterans who are willing to actively participate on our forums and in discussions, as well as providing the odd (or not so odd) article about the league. Nothing fancy, just a couple of paragraphs about something you want to cover. Too often I've found that the leagues I've been in usually wind up with just a fraction of the league posting frequently or even just commenting on league events. That, to me, is awfully boring. I talk a lot about my team, try to pull lots of trades, try to spark conversations... An online league should be something you want to actually discuss with those you are playing against, not a silent chess match where you never converse with your opponents.

To that end, I'd really only be interested in creating this league if I can get a good group of veteran players from these forums that have shown a commitment to the OOTP games for a while now. Dynasty writers would be a big plus. Experience in an online league certainly isn't necessary and I'm always willing to try and help players out if they want some advice.

Right now I've got myself fully committed (no straight jacket, though) and have some interest from a handful of other players. The CCBL is only 10 teams, so we won't need to fill too many holes.

Anybody who meets some of those qualifications out there interested?
