Hrm. It likely shouldn't be that small, as I assume that some players would have now retired. What happens if you temporarily move the retired.dat file out of the .lg folder and try to load the game? Do you still have problems?
If so, do you have any problems playing any other leagues? If you don't have another one, could you create one to use as a test?
