Let me correct what I said in my last post:
When I start the game, which I redownloaded and reinstalled and relicensed just a few minutes ago, I see the message "Installing default data files." Then I get the message "Error! Unable to open target file," and the game crashes to desktop.
So, it is not playable at all. *sigh*
