I prefer the 2 Conference, 3 Division per Conference and 1 Wildcard model that was used in UTBA-I.
The UTBA should not turn into the NHL where almost everyone makes the playoffs. 4 teams per conference is my vote.
Keep in mind that the more teams that make the playoffs, the number fights by playoff bound fighters increases - thereby potentially shortening his career.
Of course there will probably be some playoff deserving teams left out, but that just sparks more fuel to build a better team.
As for the length of a season, I don't think that it should be any longer than 12 weeks. Depending on how Scot (SAL) plans on running each league week, with 24 teams, its quite time consuming to run and post 12 matches in a single real-time week. At 2 real-time weeks per 1 league week, a single regular season will run 24 weeks (6 months). Add in the time for the initial draft, playoffs, and a well deserved off-season rest for Scot (SAL)
A final point is that keeping the stats for the league is very time consuming and getting it all updated in a single real-life week is tough.
