Major Boxing Bodies Realigned

New York (Reuters) – At a meeting of the World Fisticuffs Congress held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, it was announced that the two major boxing organizations in the Western Hemisphere have merged after the United States was granted regional status on its own.

The North American Boxing Union and the South American Boxing Association have been replaced by the Pan American Pugilism Council (PASC). This move should provide more balance in quality between regions as well as afford more opportunity for the non-US fighters to get a shot at World Championships. It also recognizes the overwhelming number of fighters from the United States in the world rankings.

American fighters will have the opportunity to fight for four lower level belts within their home country.
