UTBA-II Boxing League

The Universal Team Boxing Association II - (UTBA II)

The Universal Team Boxing Association was created in hopes of bringing team competition to the sport of boxing.

The league will consist of 24 human controlled teams using the eight original weight divisions from the stock TBCB 2.5 database.

The league will consist of:

1) Two Conferences ( Gold & Silver )

2) There will be Twelve teams in each conference and both conferences will be split into three divisions each.

3) There will be 16 boxers on each team, two boxers per each of the 8 original weight classes. Fighters in the Strawweight, Junior's, Super and Cruiserweight classes will be used. If any fighter from these weight classes are used, they will be moved up one weight class and given that designation with no changes in their ratings unless they rated in that weight by the game.

SALARY CAP:
1) All teams will have a 105 rating points cap.
A fighters overall (OR) Prime rating determines cap points.
*note
Fighters that have reached Post-prime or End career stages, will have their (OR) rating adjusted by the built in TBCB 2.5 game ratings. These new (OR) will then be used toward a teams cap.

RULES of the UTBA:

1) A season will consist of 10 team matches (10 game weeks).

2) Teams will face all the teams in their respective divisions two times per season, one at home and one away. Also they will face two teams that are not in their division but in their conference and they will also face two teams from the other conference during a season.

3) Team versus team will operate as follows:
A boxer will face both boxers of the same weight class from the team they are matched up against one time each.
Example:
Boxer #1-(HW) of team A will face boxers #1-(HW) & #2-(HW) of team B
Boxer #2-(HW) of team A will face boxers #1-(HW) & #2-(HW) of team B

4) All bouts in team matches will be scheduled for 12 rounds. Except for tournaments. (see tournaments below)

5) Boxers will earn points for their team as follows:
3.5 points - for a KO win
3 points - for a TKO win or a Unanimous decision win
2 points - for any Tech decision, Majority decision, Split decision win or a win by DQ
1 point - for all draws
0 points - for a loss
-1 point - for a DQ loss

6) Teams will be allowed to make roster adjustments to their team during the season and after by:
  • End of the season draft
  • Trades (rules posted below)
  • Free Agent waiver wire (waiver rules posted below) also (See Transactions posted below)

7) At the beginning of each season, all teams are given three draft selections. The draft order will be determined by how your team finished in the standings during the regular season. (Rules for releasing & drafting posted below)

8) Ties:
Any tie for waiver rank, drafting order, determining W/C tie or seeding a team in the playoffs will be determined as follows:
  • 1st tie-breaker...... Most Individual Wins as a team
  • 2nd tie-breaker..... Most Individual KOs as a team
  • 3rd tie-breaker...... Most Individual Unanimous decisions as a team
  • 4th tie-breaker...... Most Individual Draws as a team
Any tie for a team divisional championship will be determined as follows:
  • 1st tie-breaker, Head-to-Head Record (overall team record)
  • 2nd tie-breaker, Division Record (overall team record)
  • 3rd tie-breaker, Conference Record (overall team record)
  • 4th tie-breaker, Most Individual Wins
  • 5th tie-breaker, Fewest Individual Losses
  • 6th tie-breaker, Non-Conference Record

TRANSACTIONS:
1) Any team that wishes to release a fighter, select/drop a fighter from the Free Agent Pool or wishes to make a trade of fighter(s) with another team, must submit the request to the commissioner (SAL) to make it official. If no PM is sent to the commissioner (SAL), there will be no guarantee that whatever transaction you wished will occur.

AGING of FIGHTERS:

Fighters will age as follows:
The aging option in the game will be used and all fighters will start at the beginning setting when joining a team for the first time.
Aging range:
Step up to pre-prime.........10 / 15
Step up to prime...............10 / 30
Step up to post-prime........90 / 185
Step up to end.................20 / 40
Step up to retired.............10 / 20

INDIVIDUAL RANKINGS:
Fighters in both the Gold & Silver Conference will be ranked together

REFEREES & JUDGES:
For all bouts, the UTBA will use..........

Referee - Dick Young

Judges:
Judge #1 - Arthur Mercante
Judge #2 - Reg Thompson
Judge #3 - Lou Filippo
Judge's Bias - use bias rating

SCORING of BOUTS:
  • 10 point must
  • Tech.Draw through 5 rounds/scorecard after 5
  • Only the Referee can stop the bout
  • 3 Judges will score
  • No 3 knockdown rule
  • No standing 8 count

TOURNAMENTS:
There will be two tournaments held at the end of each season.

The UTBA Team Championship:
1) Eight teams will qualify for the Team Championship tournament with a three round playoff. The six divisional winners plus 2 wildcard teams qualify for the playoffs. (Wildcard teams- the team in each conference that scored the most points and did not win one of the divisions will gain entry into the playoffs as a wildcard entry).

3)First Round of the playoffs:
Division winners of both Conferences and the wildcard teams from each conference will meet in the first round of the playoffs. 15 rounds for all bouts. They will be scheduled as follows:

Round 1
  • Highest scoring Gold divisional winner (#1 seed) vs Gold wildcard team (#4 seed)
  • Second highest scoring Gold divisional winner (#2 seed) vs Third highest scoring Gold divisional winner (#3 seed).
  • Highest scoring Silver divisional winner (#1 seed) vs Silver wildcard team (#4 seed)
  • Second highest scoring Silver divisional winner (#2 seed) vs Third highest scoring Silver divisional winner (#3 seed).
The only exception would be if #1 seed and the wildcard are from the same division. The wildcard should never face its division leader in the first round of the playoffs. If this happens, seeding for the first round of the playoffs would be as follows........

#1 faces #3
#2 faces #4 (wildcard)

Round 2
  • Winners of the first round Gold playoff matches will meet to determine the Gold Conference Champion.
  • Winners of the first round Silver playoff matches will meet to determine the Silver Conference Champion.

Round 3
The two Conference Champions will meet to determine the UTBA Team Champion

Individual Tournaments:
The top 15 ranked fighters and the individual champion in each weight class will take part in a 16-man showdown tournament to determine individual champion.

1) All tournament bouts will be scheduled for 15 rounds.

2) Individual Championship Titles will be at stake in every fight during the season.

3) An individual champion will automatically be seeded #1 in the year end tournament.

DRAFT POOL:
1) New boxers will be randomly added at the end of each season to stock the draft pool.

The draft pool will be stocked each year with 90 new fighters spread out amoung the eight weight classes. The ratings of these fighters will range from 1-12. Occasionally there will be 13+ rated fighters added. Also any fighter in the Free Agent pool will be added to the draft pool in addition to the 90 new fighter ratings added. When the draft is over, any fighter remaining will be placed in the free agent pool before the season begins.

New boxers added to the draft pool will not be listed by name....only the overall rating will be listed. When you draft an overall rating, you must name the fighter of your choice at this time and he must also match the (OR) you just drafted.

DRAFTING:
1)The draft will be announced one week prior to the start time of the draft.

2) There will be three rounds to the draft.

3) The order in which teams will draft(straight draft):
The 16 non-playoff teams will be placed in the draft order 1 thru 16 as follows,
the team with the worst point total at the end of a season will have the first pick, the team with the 2nd worst point total will have second pick…..and so on.

The playoff teams will be placed 17 thru 24 in the draft order as follows:

I will add the points scored in each round of the playoffs to the regular season total. The 4 1st-round losers will only have 1 additional match total added to their regular season total. These 4 teams will then be ranked, just like the 16 non-playoff teams and will be arranged in draft positions 17-20.

The 2 Conference finals losers will have 2 additional match totals added to the regular season total. Of the 2, the lowest gets draft position 21, and the higher gets draft position 22.

The UTBA Championship Runner-up will autmatically get draft position 23

The UTBA Champion will get draft positon 24

4) Draft Times:
Will be announced by the commissioner (SAL)

1) Everyone PM's their first-round picks to the commissioner (SAL).
2) SAL will publish the list of drafted fighters up to the point of any conflict (with the first drafting team obviously getting the guy).
3) The team who duplicated a previous pick will get 24 hours to make a replacement pick.
4) Repeat process for Rounds 2 and 3.

note: Once you submit a "PM" for a pick, no trading will be allowed until the round is over.
A PM regarding dupe picks can go out simultaneously to all those involved. But in order to do this, I'll have to set a "blackout" of draft pick trading during the drafting round to avoid the following:

* You submit a PM to pick HW(8) in Round 1, at pick No. 14.

* The commish PM's you to say, sorry, the only HW(8) slot will be chosen at No. 9.

* Then you could use that knowledge to trade for the No. 7 pick.

I'm not saying anyone would do that, but it might be tempting and best to eliminate the possibility.

You will be allowed to send in alternate picks/or instructions with your draft PM in the event your first choice is taken.

5) The 105 cap will be lifted during the drafting rounds and fighter releases after the draft.

6) All teams will draft for the entire three rounds before any roster cuts are made. Once the draft is over, all managers will have one week to release fighters to the free agent pool to reduce their roster to 16 fighters.

7) Once all teams have 16 fighters, the waiver rounds will open and teams then must reduce their team cap to 105. We will use as many waiver rounds as necessary for all teams to reduce their cap to 105 or below.

TRADES:
Trade Deadline
1) Throughout the season, managers can trade fighters or draft picks with other managers. A deadline will be imposed by the commissioner one day before the next scheduled team matches are to begin. No trades will be allowed during the running of team matches. All trades will be subject to approval by the commissioner. The Trade Wire will reopen after the last team match has been held for that game week.

2) A team must remain at or under the 105 rating points cap.

3) If a trade leaves a team with a vacant spot on their roster or over the 105 point cap limit, they must replace the vacancy from the free agent pool or reduce their cap using the free agent pool subject to the waiver wire rules. Any vacancy will be filled by the waiver wire rules posted under free agents section.

4) If a trade leaves a team with more than 16 fighters on their roster, they must reduce their roster number to 16 by releasing the extra fighters to the free agent pool while remaining at the 105 cap point rule or under.

FREE AGENTS / WAIVER REQUESTS:

There will be three rounds in succession after each game week to request and acquire free agents.(see Waiver Schedule below)

Throughout the season you may want to improve your roster by adding available free agents and release fighters that are not performing up to your expectations. All fighters in the Free Agent Pool will be available.

Free agent requests must be sent by PM to the commissioner.

Requests will be processed on a first-come, first-serve using the Waiver process. (see Waivers below)

There will be a limit of one fighter request per waiver round. When submitting your free agent request by PM, state which fighter you wish to claim from the Free Agent Pool. (You may select as many alternates as you want in your request in the event a fighter that you requested is picked up on waivers before your teams turn in the waiver order)

You may also give the commissioner a list for all three rounds at once if you choose. Just make sure if you do this, give detailed instructions of what you want in the PM.

You must submit a PM to the commissioner which fighter(s) you wish to release from your roster either at the time of a free agent request or at the close of the waiver rounds. A team roster must be at or below the 105 point cap limit by the close of the waiver round deadline or the roster will be subject to a Penalty Provision.

During the 3 day waiver process, the team cap of 105 points will be waived. Teams will be allowed to have their cap exceed the 105 limit during the waiver rounds but the team cap must be at or below the 105 limit by the end of the 3rd waiver round.

#note: any fighter picked up on waivers from the wavier pool must be used on a teams roster for one game week before he will be allowed to release him back to the waiver pool.

Penalty Provision
If a team is over the 105 cap at the end of the waiver period, the commissioner reserves the right to take corrective action with the offending team. This may include both releasing a fighter as well as adding a fighter from the Free Agent pool.

WAIVERS:
To provide an equal opportunity to all managers to add fighters to their roster from the Free Agent Pool, a Waiver process is used. Fighters that are requested by PM will be put in a pending status. This allows multiple teams to request the same fighters. The order in which these requests are processed is based on the Waiver Rank of each team.

WAIVER RANK:
(Waiver rank system below will be used only at the end of each season (week 10) to determine where a team will be ranked)

1. Lowest total team point total

2. Second lowest total team point total

3. Third lowest total team point total........following this pattern down to the highest scoring team.

The waiver rank will change after each legal claim by a team during the three waiver rounds each week and throughout the entire season.

Pending transactions are processed in an order determined by each teams waiver rank. A team with a waiver rank of 1, considered the highest, will get its requested selection (fighter) first. After the transaction is executed, the team waiver rank is then set to 24 (last), and all other team waiver rank move up one spot in the order.

If a teams requested fighter becomes invalid because another team received that requested fighter first, the requested fighter is deleted from the owners PM. If the team selected any alternates, the alternate will become that team request.

If awarded a waiver selection, it will become effective immediately. All awarded free agents will be announced at the end of every waiver round.

Reminder............... The team cap must be at or below the 105 limit by the end of the wavier round deadline.

Retiring Fighters Manually:
Any fighter with a fight record that is in the free agent pool at a seasons end and is not used at any point during the next full UTBA season, either by way of waiver claim or draft, the following draft or the waiver claim period after the draft, he will automatically be retired and removed from the UTBA database.

EXPANSION TEAMS:
Expansion teams will have the choice if they want to start out with a brand new team or just inherit a defunct team from the UTBA II and relocate it to a new city. If a new owner chooses to go brand new, then they must follow the guidelines below.

GUIDELINES FOR NEW TEAMS:
1) Expansion teams joining the league will start with a 95 rating points cap for the first year. All expansion teams will select two fighters in each of the 8 original weight classes (HW,LHW,MW,WW,LW,FW,BW & Fly) using the following guideline for drafting their team.

2 fighters rated 9
2 fighters rated 8
2 fighters rated 7
3 fighters rated 6
3 fighters rated 5
2 fighters rated 4
2 fighters rated 3

1) Expansion teams can select fighters from the stock TBCB 2.5 database and they can also choose from the league free agent pool. Expansion teams will be notified by the commissioner when it is time to submit their roster.

2) If two or more expansion teams are submitting a roster, they will be submitted to the commissioner at the same time. If there are any duplication of selections on two or more rosters, the commissioner will scratch those choices from the submitted roster and notify the expansion team stating that they had a fighter scratched and they need to make another selection.

3) After an expansion team has assembled their initial roster and it is made official, their cap will move to 105 points.

4) Expansion teams will not be allowed to participate in the waiver process in their first season. They can however try to improve their team with trades which would allow them movement toward the 105 point cap limit. If you choose to take over a defunct team, you will have full rights in the league to use the waiver process.

"Removal Rule"
If the Commissioner receives 3 or more complaints by PM about an owner, the owner in question will be brought up for a league wide vote for removal from the league. All PM complaints will be posted as evidence as to why we are voting on the removal of a team owner.

The UTBA expects all owners to treat each other decently and to be gracious in assuming disagreements are nothing more than misunderstandings. Only report to the Commissioner after you have tried to resolve the matter on your own.
