Game #9 – Chicago (A) [3-5] (L. Nunez 0-0, 0.00 ERA) at Detroit [3-5] (J. Verlander 1-0, 3.46 ERA)

Chicago (A) 10
Detroit 11 (11)
W: T. Jones (1-0) L: M. Thornton (0-1)
HR – CHA: N. Swisher (1) DET: F. Catalanotto 2 (3)

We scored a run in the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings to tie the game at 8. Then in the eleventh, we scored 2 runs on 3 hits to take what I thought was a comfortable lead. Ozzie brought in Thornton in the bottom of the inning to try and close it out. He gave up a leadoff walk to Granderson, then a double to Guillen to bring in Granderson and make it a 1-run game. Thornton then walked Catalanotto and Raburn to load the bases for Ivan Rodriguez with nobody out. Rodriguez gave us a gift and grounded into a 5-2-3 double play, but Renteria hurt us by taking an 0-2 pitch into the hole in left to score Catalanotto and Raburn and win the game. Catalanotto went 2-3 with 2 home runs, 3 runs scored, 2 RBIs, and 3 walks.
