This team is frustrating to watch sometimes. Contreras put us in a 4-0 hole after 4 innings, but we tied it up in the seventh. Both teams scored a run in the eighth, and we headed to extras. Ozzie brought out Matt Thornton to start the tenth in relief of Contreras. He got the first batter out, then gave up 2 walks, a single, another walk, and another single before being pulled. The total damage was 4 runs scored in that inning.
In the bottom of the inning, Konerko led off with a solo shot to cut the lead to 3. Josh Fields followed with a base hit, and Jerry Owens hit into a fielders choice at second. Quentin and Dye both walked to load the bases for A.J. Pierzynski. He hit a double down the left field line, which scored Owens and Quentin. Dye tried for home, and the tying run was thrown out. Alexei Ramirez walked, but Cabrera flew out to center to strand A.J. at second.
