Tuesday, May 10, 2011
CHICAGO - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have hired 38-year-old Roberto Garcia as the team's interim manager for the remainder of the 2011 season.
Garcia replaces Don Baylor, who guided the team to a 9-23 start this season. Although he has no experience managing a professional baseball team, Garcia has four years experience in the college ranks. He managed the University of Connecticut Huskies for three seasons, posting an 83-63 record during that time. He most recently served as an interim manager for the Oregon State Beavers, going 10-23 during that time.
