Sort of along those same lines I have never really understood the huge talent increases that can occur, is it totally random? Or is a player who is putting up great stats in the minors more likely to break out? Maybe it's heavily coaching dependent?  |
All part of the mystique of the game, I suppose. Some people swear by work ethic and intelligence, some figure younger guys have better chances of talent increases, some think it's totally random, some think it's coaching.
If you really want to find out, run a lot of tests. Have a scenario where coaching is off (or bad coaches) and follow the 1 star guys. See how they progress. Follow their personality ratings. See how they progress. Follow their stats. See how they progress. Etc.
