I see that you have posted the issue in technical support, so in all probability your problem is just temporary.
I think I understand what happened to you. Try this next time: when you copy & paste a uniform template into Paint.net - the template will not fill the
default canvas size. What you need to do is goto Image/Crop to Selection. Your problem could have been avoided with just one click. Image/Crop to Selection can be a very useful feature in Paint.net. At least you'll know for next time - and you now know a little bit more about another feature of Paint.net!
