Delgado re-ups with Reds

Delgado, Reds ink extension
Slugger may retire in Cincinnati
Thursday, May 27, 2011

CINCINNATI - Future Hall of Famer Carlos Delgado signed a two-year contract extension that may cover the 38-year-old's final seasons.
Delgado will be paid $17.21 million in 2012 and 2013 under the terms of the extension, sources said.
The Cincinnati Reds were eager to re-sign Delgado, a fan favorite that has yet to show any sign of dimished talent. In 46 games this year, Delgado has hit .293 with 8 home runs and 33 RBI, putting him on pace to club 28 homers and drive in 114 runs in 483 at bats.
He hit .282 with 25 homers and 102 RBI last season, his first with Cincinnati.
"I've enjoyed my time here with the Reds and I'd love to finish my career here," Delgado said. "I haven't decided if 2013 will be it or not, but its a possibility. We'll see how everything goes and take care of that decision down the road."
In his 19-year-career, Delgado - an eight-time All Star and winner of the 2000 MVP - has hit .291 with 2,610 hits, 496 doubles, 658 home runs and 1,996 RBI for the Toronto Blue Jays, Kansas City Royals, New York Yankees and Reds.
