You mentioned wargaming. Are you aware of any wargame with up to date, modern armies? I always thought having a war game similar to TB would be interesting. Let the game sim a battle if 2 modern armies ever fought & I was just curious if any such game/sim was currently on the market?

A few modern wargames -
CMSF is a great game - (patched to 1.8) - Takes the role of a Stryker US Brigade - They have a modern day Marine module that is about to come out as well - Both taking place in a war Vs Syria - (many mods put out as well).
Combat Mission: Shock Force
Of course HPS Sim's have a great number (and later this year, they will be putting out a modern-day Squad Battles game/sim). HPS is more likely in the lines of what you are talking about - They have about 7 or 8 different game lines - With Squad Battles and POA 2 being very well done -

BlackFoot Studios is putting out an ultra-realistic-FPS late this year (early 09) - This game will be absolutely fantastic - A very tactical (real based) FPS - Not the run and gun, shoot'em ups that fill the market today - (back to the days of the original R6 / RS) - Only with today's specs and grahpics, etc, etc - This game will be something else -
