Round 2 Fantastic 4s, Tandberg-Miteff, the Dance!

Olle Tandberg (1-0) vs. Alex Miteff (1-0 1) – Mike Hanson was the guest commentator for this one. They split a slow first 2 rounds, but Tandberg was cut under his left eye. Olle boxed nicely to take the next two rounds, hammering home hooks, crosses and jabs, and cutting Alex’s mouth. Miteff landed a huge hook at the end of the 5th to take that one, 11-4, and won the 6th, 12-4, on a series of hooks, and the fight seemed knotted.

Tandberg rallied to dominate the 7th, 12-2, as his hooks & jabs found their target. He jabbed and hooked his way to take the 8th, and was in great shape! Miteff bulled in for some hooks in the 9th, and got the nod in part because of a jarring round-ending hook. He took a much-needed 10th, 6-0, as both fought defensively, but his hook to the body had some steam on it! I scored it a 95 all draw, Mike H had Miteff winning, 97-95. The judges scored it 95-95, 97-93 Tandberg & 97-93 Miteff, a draw! Tandberg had squandered a great opportunity and the punch count was almost even, 254-241.

They traded the first four rounds in the rematch, each of which was fairly close. The 5th was dead even, 11-11, Tandberg scoring with a bunch of hooks, like he did in the 1st, Miteff throwing onw pulverizing cross and a bunch of lighter ones!

Miteff won the 6th, 12-6, on a hard left and 16 hooks all told. Tandberg landed 49 times in controlling the 7th, 16-4, banging 16 hooks home! It was dead even at this point to me, and the 8th was almost even, 7-6, Miteff scoring with a laser right!

Unlike the last fight, Tandberg didn’t disappear in the 9th! He connected 13 times with jabs, 10 times with hooks, pounding out a decisive 15-7 round! He was defensive-minded in the 10th, but landed some nice counters, and pulled it out, as Miteff kept missing with his bombs!

I had it 97-95, Tandberg. Mike H had left the stadium, seeing some opportunities to skewer a few folks on some posts, so he didn’t score the fight. The judges scored it 97-93 Miteff, 98-93 Tandberg and 96-94, for the winner by a split decision,…Olle Tandberg! Olle landed far more punches this time, 302-208, with 96 being his favorite weapon, the hook! Truly, these two could have fought all night!!
