Kennedy Selected First
January 14th 1981 - The Paris Cyclones took Irish pitcher Malcolm Kennedy at #1 in the draft. The lefty is only 21 and promises to be an EBL star for some years to come.

4. Amsterdam C Antti-Jussi Meresmaa (FIN) - A great player and a good pick, as there won't be many C's who can approach his level
5. Hamburg 3B Dolf Pellenaars (BEL) - Possibly the best hitter available
6. Berlin SP Kaspar Ahlmann (GER)
7. Lisbon 1B Zosimo Patrianakos (GRE) - Might strike out a lot, but will hit pleny of homers
8. Oslo LF Bernard Wulker (SUI) - Not a pick we expected
9. Zurich 1B Lukas Stoger (AUT) - A threat to win many batting titles
10. Madrid CF Milos Vostatkove (CZE)
11. Brussels LF Theo Brittain (IRL) - Projects as a better hitter than Wulker. Known as 'Four Eyes' even though he wears contacts.
12. Budapest LF Bernd Vonschroeder (SUI)
13. London LF Eskil Junge (DEN) - LF's flying off the board
14. Milan RF Vilhelm Bogedal (DEN)
15. Copenhagen SP Alexis Martin (FRA)
16. Glasgow LF Constantino Deodato (ITA) - A big power hitter
17. Barcelona C Christer Laundsen (DEN) - Excellent defensively and can also hit
18. Warsaw CF Patrick Lacroix (BEL)
