The ball flight model, sound and enhanced PBP were the new features that really caught my eye prior to the release of OOTP 9 and sparked my interest.

Reading through the postings almost everyday since the release, there seems to be a luke warm response to both the ball flight and sound options. At times, the PBP and ball flight don't seem to be in sync.

Having played with scouting and coaches options off for years because of unfair advantages vs. the AI, I continue to check postings for comments on these two topics also.

IMHO, if the above features are poorly implemented or have to be turned off for the sake of realism/accuracy...I'll delay my decision and watch for future patches. Again, this is a function of MY style of play and I can recognize many others who regularly sim games/seasons from a GM perspective and are very satisfied with Markus' latest offering.

My fall back position for now will be to continue playing and enjoying OOTP 7. I'll definitely watch with interest as to how OOTP 9 progresses and demo availability.
You are right about animation and sound. A lot has to be done in those areas of the game. Both are good starts, but are flawed.

Try the demo.

I think the PBP is much better this time around. It is much more realistic as far as "great, amazing plays". They have been toned down considerably. Rather than have 5-10 great plays a game, they are now a more realistic 1-2 per game.

Infield hits are more believable now. You can see from the PBP why the runner was able to beat out a base hit. In previous versions the play seemed to be a routine out, yet the player gets a hit on it. This shouldn't happen often this time around.

If you play out all of your games, I think you will be pleased with the revised PBP.

The PBP is still not where it should be. When there are several runners on base and it has to describe what is happening, the PBP gets very convoluted and things don't happen in the proper sequence. This is not a Text problem, it is a Markus problem. He had to fix this in the Hard-Coded material.

I am like you. I play out my game and PBP is very important to me. I will get OOTP9 for this reason.

But don't take my word for it, try the demo and see for yourself.
