Player Development Question
(EDIT: I guess I should've named this Player Changing Positions and Developing, sorry, misleading)
OK, I play out all my games, so my time goes slower than others who sim, so I hope thost that have more seasons under their belt can help.
My RHB 1B has been Very Unhappy all year. He's good, but I've got a LHB 1B stud who plays against righties and I start the upset guy against lefties. At the end of the year, my W/L was way better against rightes than lefties, so I still need all the help I can get against the lefties (finished 81-81).
So, I trade Mr. Very Unhappy RHB 1B, and the best I can do is about even in the ratings, (slightly better contact, but slightly less power), BUT, he's a LF. So, I've got two RHB LF's.
Both have infield ratings of 1-1-1-1 (Rng/Error/Arm/TDP), and are NOT rated at first base. I'm hoping that I can put one of them at first base in spring training and have him as my starting 1B vs lefties in the upcoming campaign.
Can this be done?
If so, should I start him more at 1B in ST than just against lefties to get him more time there?
If age matters, one is 28, the other is 30, would it be better to try the younger guy?
Or, this CAN be done, but starting out with all IF ratings of 1 makes these two POOR candidates, and I should consider another alternative.
Thanks for any advice.
