Notes -
Milan were dominant - leading the EBL in runs scored and finishing second in runs allowed.
Budapest had a 16-4 run in July to move into the lead of the Black Sea division. Also in July, Stockholm had a 3-15 run and Warsaw lost 12 in a row.
On August 4th there were a total of 22 runs scored in the 6 EL games.
Amsterdam caught Brussels at the end of August but couldn't overtake them. In early September the top 5 teams in the Baltic division were separated by just 2 games, but Berlin won 13 of 17 to take control of the division.
Budapest beat Stockholm on the final day of the season to clinch their division and to also allow Prague into the playoffs despite a 2-0 loss to Hamburg.
Player Notes -
There were 12 different monthly award winners over the second half of the season. The hitters were -
Constantino Deodato (Glasgow),
Lukas Stoger (Zurich),
Max Sabin (Milan),
Nicodemo 'Pop' Annoni (Athens),
Dolf Pellenaars (Hamburg) and
Vilfred Krak (Berlin). The pitchers were -
Jonas Poderbrady (Barcelona),
Nike Rousakis (Milan),
Stuart Seaward (Dublin),
Bart Taft (Oslo),
Robert Wood (Stockholm) and
Adrian Sandrakos (Budapest).
Zurich starter
Zihni Gurcan had the worst start in league history against Amsterdam on 8th July. He faced 9 batters, not retiring any of them, allowing 3 hits and 6 walks, with all 9 going on to score as Amsterdam score 10 runs in the 1st inning of a 17-6 win.
Brussels allowed two 3 HR games in the space of a week.
Niall McKee (Dublin) on 29th July and
Jani Peltola (Glasgow) were the successful hitters.
Prague RF
Kyle MacKillop hit a 2 out walk off Grand Slam in the 15th inning against Moscow on 11th August.
Significant Injuries-
Max Beuchlan (Budapest) missed 6 weeks with a rib injury. He was hitting .343 with a .921 OPS at the time.
Milan pitcher
Nenad Jevtic will miss a year with a torn rotator cuff. The WL's pitcher of the month for April and May suffered the injury on 23rd August, when his record stood at 17-4 with a 2.83 ERA.
