Notes -

The three teams mentioned in the preview as having made major trades (and Dublin who we failed to mention) are all having good years.
Zurich and Lisbon were involved in the EBLs second ever 20 inning game on 7th April. Zurich won 12-11, meaning they have been involved and won both EBL games that have gone that distance.
Sofia started 2-18. They fired their GM and skipper in May.
Oslo beat Moscow 5-3 on 19th May, a game remarkable because each team committed the same number of errors as they scored runs. Moscow followed this up by committing 5 errors the next day.
Budapest had a 6-18 run in May. Copenhagen had a 16-5 run and Prague won 18 out of 24.

Player Notes -

In the 20 inning game, Lisbon RF Dylan Rosenburg was 4/5 with 2 HR, 6 RBI and 5 walks.
Brussels players Theo Brittain, Jorge Perez and Fabio Quinhones all hit 2 home runs as the Hitmen beat Amsterdam 22-11 on 10th April. Perez was later named the WL Hitter of the Month for April, he hit .379 with 5 home runs and 23 RBIs.
Ebbe de Bie (Prague) became the first relief pitcher to win a Pitcher of the Month award, by winning the EL award in April. He saved 12 games in the month and had a 1.02 ERA.
The other April award winners were Paulo Simon (Athens, EL Hitter) and Magnus Leeuwenburgh (Vienna, WL Pitcher), who returned from injury with a 5-0 month.
Claudio Lwenholm (Amsterdam) hit in every game he played in May, finishing with a 31 game hitting streak. He hit .424 for the month of May and was named as the WL Hitter of the Month.
Prague CF Josef Metternech hit 3 HR versus Oslo on 15th May. 2 weeks later Randy Schmidt (Hamburg) hit the first cycle of the season.
May's Pitchers of the Month were - WL: Odysseus Hristopolous (Zurich), EL: Alexis Martin (Copenhagen).
Ian Meoni (Oslo) had a great May for his new club. He hit .400 and was named EL Hitter of the Month.
Dublin SP Jere Ronkko (who they got in return for Vitaly Woevodin in the pre-season trade) is 10-1 at the All-Star break with a 3.44 ERA.

Significant Injuries -

Vienna SP Joseph Sykora will miss the whole of the 1983 season with bone chips. Last season he was 15-10 with a 3.47 ERA.
Two time reigning WL Pitcher of the Year, Nike Rousakis (Milan), missed 3 weeks in May with a strained rotator cuff.
Dolf Pellenaars (Hamburg) was injured just before the All-Star break and will miss the rest of the year. He is a career .305 hitter and will definitely be missed.
