August 2009 - Milwaukee Brewers
Manager and GM Fritsche
3rd August 2009
We head now into another week of Inter League play. If things go well, we might start planning for the playoffs as the Cubs are on a very bad streak and fell 10 games out of first place.
The third game against the Astros was a defensive nightmare with promising shortshop Kevin King committing three errors alone.
The team as a whole is still very sound and even if we couldn't trade for another right hander in the bullpen, we should be ready for the three final months of the season.
Our next opponent are the White Sox. We took two out of three against them in May. But since then we made a big trade with them. Will be intersting to see how Herndon, Gagné and Fermaint are doing against us. Ex-Brewers Jeff Suppan (3-3-1, 4.48 ERA) and LF Corey Hart (long term injury) are also still with the White Sox.
League administration announced today that one of the expansion teams will be decided through fanvoting. So readers can in short time cast their vote to decide which city will get an expansion team in 2010. The poll will open soon.

Yovanni Gallardo (9-7, had to leave the game after three innings with a dislocated shoulder. He is expected to be DTD for at least two weeks and is therefore placed on the DL. Francisco Rosario (3-4, 8.13 ERA) gets another chance to proove he's good enough for the big leagues.
We claimed reliever Luis Lebron (5-3-3, 3.98 ERA - AAA) off waivers from the Orioles. He should provide some depth in the bullpen in case some injuries occur. For the time being he reports to AAA Nashville.
Elsewhere:
The Marlins 2B Pedro Lopez (.337, 7 HR, 27 RBI) collected five hits in 8-7 victory over the Yankees.
