Well, I don't understand the problems in Kentucky but I am from a very very rural part of Maine, where the population is around 200 people and the nearest town is 18 miles away and that isn't much bigger, but we still had DSL through Verizon. I don't live there now, having moved down here to Virginia to be near my oldest daughter and her family and now have cable....
But I do remember those days well and that was before they had programs that could speed up a dialup like they do now. Even so, I remember downloading a file that I let download all night. I lived with it as best I could but again, I feel really bad for you that have to deal with that. Bell South and Southeastern Telephone, no wonder you can't get any good service. BellSouth sucks. I have had that in the past. The way southwest rural Virginia had there problem solved was by the local power company taking over the local phone company and then adding all the high speed wires needed to run Cable through the lines to all of their power customers. Now they have all of their bills in one and save money, and the power company makes money too....Pretty smart. There are other power companies doing this now throughout the country. They already own the poles so why not use them for more than power?
Anyway, sorry for you guys that are in rural parts of the country that still have people like BellSouth to deal with. Best of luck to you all anyway.
