By the way, he said he got that error "when I tried to enter section 10.1 Statistics and Abbreviations of the manual" which led me to think of IE, naturally, but I got the same error message by pressing F1 on the screen below. I have seen this error before in other situations, I believe. In this one, you can "OK" out of it although it takes a few clicks.
