July 31, 1881 - Sunday Base Ball Report

Cleveland Blues 32-18
Boston Red Caps 31-19
Troy Trojans 27-23
Detroit Wolverines 27-24
Chicago White Stockings 23-28
Buffalo Bisons 22-27
Providence Grays 21-29
Worcester Ruby Legs 17-32

Cleveland had a down week last week, as they dropped two of three in Chicago, including an embarrassing 21-1 loss. Meanwhile, Boston took three of four from Worcester and Troy.

There are now three months gone in the 1881 season, and two to go. Although it looks like a two-team race at the moment, both Troy and Detroit are close enough to possible get back into the race. This week, Boston has three games against lowly Worcester, while Cleveland heads to Detroit for a three-game set.
