August 14, 1881 - Sunday Base Ball Report

Boston Red Caps 36-21
Cleveland Blues 34-22

Troy Trojans 30-27
Chicago White Stockings 26-31
Buffalo Bisons 24-31
Providence Grays 24-34
Worcester Ruby Legs 20-35

A relatively quiet week, as all of the contenders maintained roughly the same position. Cleveland appears to have finally come out of their slump, as they ended their five-game losing streak by beating Buffalo twice in a row.

Meanwhile, Paul Hines of Chicago became the first professional base ball player ever to hit six home runs in a single season this week. He has twice as many as his next closest rivals, and could add still more long balls before the season is over.
