The League of Nations leaders met in Geneva today to discuss world politics and, more importantly, baseball. On the list of discussion were the designated hitter, an idea which was scrapped after the American contingent screamed that this went against all sense of tradition and fair play, and a proposal to split each league into two divisions. This was introduced by First Lady Edith Wilson, acting as a go-between for President Woodrow Wilson while the US leader and general manager of the New York Giants recovers from a stroke.
On the American side of things, forming a division out of the Defenders, Giants, Reds, and Baseball Engineers only makes sense - it ensures that a team from the country that founded the game gets to play in the postseason. On the European side, the French and English representatives in particular evinced a lack of desire to form a strong rivalry with Germany and Austria, countries they'd just lost millions of countrymen to in the Great War.
Expansion was briefly discussed but also tabled.
