"Shoeless" Joe Jackson scored on Mike Donlin's bases loaded walk in the 7th inning as the Americans finish pool play undefeated and head to the semifinals. Jack Coombs allowed just three runs in nine innings, striking out five, and three hits and scored twice. *German Vigueras had two hits and *Alfonso Tavaras had two RBI for Cuba.

*Rikiya Hirano was a perfect 5 for 5, including a homer, with three RBI and two runs scored as Japan won their first ever World Cup game. *Taisuke Hamada gave up just one run in nine innings and *Oniji Nakumura drove in three for the Japanese. *Kenny de Jager had two hits for the Dutch. Both teams failed to advance with Cuba winning the tie-breaker.
