Undercard:
Randall Cobb 2-0 (2) KO 3 Dave Hannigan 0-1
The texan had no problems with Hannigan as he battered him in the second and finished him in the 3rd. Easy second fight for Randall Cobb.
Trevor Berbick 6-0 (4) KO 1 Gerald Ellis 2-5
Third 1st round knockout in a row for the canadian. A beautiful hook sent Ellis out cold after 53 seconds.
Jose Urtain 24-9 (13) TKO 3 Tony Ventura 27-14-3 (17)
Big upset here as Ventura was supposed to use Urtain as a tune up for his June NABF title fight against Ted Gullick. Urtain took a beating in the 1st, but turned it completely around in the 2nd before hammering Ventura in the 3rd, making the ref stop the fight.
Main Event (live):
George Foreman 31-2 (31) vs Piermario Baruzzi 25-5 (18)
Pre Fight: The former heavyweight champion of the world and current #2 ranked by the RING, is expected to knock Baruzzi out, and early too. Foremans frightening power is clearly shown by his record of 31 knockouts in 31 victories. A record that no other fighter can match. Baruzzi is a tough guy, proven by him taking another hard hitter Earnie Shavers the distance of ten rounds, and he has only been stopped twice. He goes down often, but almost always gets back up. Foreman though has killer instinct and finishes hurt opponents off quickly.
Prediction: Foreman KO 4
Titles on the line: None, although it is a semifinal in the tourney for the WBA belt.
Round 1:
Foreman hurts Baruzzi with two stiff uppercuts a hook and then sends him down with a thundering cross. Baruzzi gets up at the count of 6. Baruzzi covers up and makes it through the round. 10-8 Foreman
Round 2: Foreman doesn't hold back and lands two crushing rights to knock the italian down once more. Baruzzi shows excellent heart to get up at 4. Foreman rains blows on Baruzzi and lands a short uppercut to knock him down again. He gets up again, this time already at 3. Foreman pounds Baruzzi and the referee correctly stops the fight here in the 2nd.
George Foreman TKO 2 Piermario Baruzzi.
What a stunningly mercyless fight from George Foreman who gave his opponent absoloutely no chance.
Foreman is now in the final of the WBA tournament and will face the winner of next saturdays bout between Shavers and Kirkman.
George Foremans record improves to 32-2 with 32 KOs. Piermario Baruzzis record falls to 25-6 with 18 KOs.
